Florence Caeymaex, Francqui Chair at the KULeuven
Florence Caeymaex, F.R.S.-FNRSResearch Associate, philosopher in the Traverses Research Unit (Faculty of Philosophy and Letters) and Vice-President of the Bioethics Advisory Committee of the University of Liège has just been awarded a Francqui Chair at the request of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL). She will give five lessons on the contribution of feminist thought to ethics.
D
istancing themselves from the moral theories inherited from classical philosophy, many feminist theorists (as well as ecological philosophers) have engaged in practices and knowledge that seek to transform our êthos, i.e. our ways of seeing, feeling, thinking and acting. In doing so, they have changed the object of our ethical concern and the dynamics of our moral commitments, thus providing new points of support for our political claims. These questions will be explored through the work of Nancy Fraser, Joan Tronto, Donna Haraway, Patricia Hill Collins - and others.

About the Francqui Chairs
On the proposal of the Universities, the Francqui Foundation awards a few "Francqui Chairs" each year. These are intended to invite a renowned professor from another Belgian university to give ten hours of lectures.
