Biography
Lieselotte Brems is associate professor of English linguistics at the Unversity of Liège and Research fellow at the KU Leuven (FunC research unit). She obtained her PhD from the KU Leuven in 2007. Her doctoral research focused on grammaticalisation processes in binominal syntagms involving size and type nouns. For her FWO postdoc she moved on to study semiotic nouns such as fear, hope, doubt and their potential to shift to complex subordinators and/or acquire modal values in certain constructions. She currently pursues both synchronic and diachronic corpus resarch on grammaticalisation processes in the complex noun phrase in English.
